  8. Quick Description:
  9. ------------------
  10. Launch! is a fully configurable, toolbox style application.  Each of Launch!'s
  11. buttons can be configured to run any program.  Once you assign a program to
  12. one of its buttons, that program can be "launched" with just a click of the
  13. mouse.

  18. Installation:
  19. -------------
  20. To install Launch!, copy the files LAUNCH!.EXE and LAUNCH!.HLP to any
  21. directory on your hard disk.  Those two files must be in the same directory,
  22. or you will not be able to access Launch!'s help from within Launch!
  23.  
  24. Copy the files THREED.VBX, CMDIALOG.VBX, MSGBLAST.VBX and CTL3D.DLL to your
  25. WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.  If these files already exist in that directory,
  26. compare the dates of the files and keep the newest ones.  The older ones
  27. should be deleted.

  29. IMPORTANT!  To run Launch!, you must have the file VBRUN300.DLL in your
  30. WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.  VBRUN100.DLL and VBRUN200.DLL will not work.  If
  31. you do not have a copy of this file, you can obtain it off of most BBS's and
  32. online services.

  35. Running Launch!:
  36. ----------------
  37. Once you have installed Launch!, create an icon for it by following the
  38. instructions in your Windows manual.  More than likely you will want to
  39. place the Launch! icon in your StartUp group.  To run Launch!, double-click
  40. on the Launch! icon.
  41.  
  42. For instructions on configuring Launch!, please see the online documentation.

  44. To activate the online documentation from within Launch!, single-click on the
  45. grey border around the Launch! window, and press the "Help..." button that
  46. is on the configuration screen.  (Or right-click on any of Launch!'s
  47. configurable buttons and select "Help..." from the popup menu.)

  49. To activate the online help from outside of Launch!, open File Manager,
  50. locate and double-click on the file named LAUNCH!.HLP.

  53. Registering Launch!:
  54. --------------------
  55. If you find Launch! useful, please support the shareware concept by
  56. registering your copy of Launch!  Your ONE TIME registration fee of $15
  57. will remove the opening screen from this and all future versions--no
  58. purchasing of upgrades is necessary!

  60. To register, simply print out the "Registering Launch!" section in the online
  61. help.  Fill out the form, and mail it to my U.S. Mail address below, along
  62. with check or money order (payable in U.S. Funds) amounting to $15.  If you
  63. provide your e-mail address or FAX number, you will receive your registration
  64. number much faster.  If you do not have an e-mail address or FAX number, you
  65. will receive your registration number via U.S. Mail.

  102. VERSION HISTORY

  105. New in version 1.8:

  108. * Buttons can now be configured with a FILE that is associated with a program.
  109.   For example, you can now drag and drop a file with a TXT extension onto one
  110.   of the configurable buttons on Launch!  When you press that button, Notepad
  111.   will start with the TXT file loaded.  Buttons will use the icon from the
  112.   associated program.
  113.  
  114. * Greatly reduced the CPU usage taken by Launch! when it was not minimized.
  115.   Some had been experiencing a "system slowdown" while running Launch!  That
  116.   problem shouldn't be experienced any more!
  117.  
  118. * Added an "arrange" feature.  This allows you to drag and drop the
  119.   configurable buttons on Launch!, arranging them in whatever order you
  120.   want.  This may provide an easier way to rearrange buttons than the "swap"
  121.   feature provides.  (The "swap" feature is still available, however.)
  122.  
  123. * You can now change the look of the text displayed in the status bar by
  124.   clicking on the status bar.  The text can be normal, inset, or raised, bold
  125.   or normal.
  126.  
  127. * A "verify close" feature has been added.  If you turn this option ON, you
  128.   will be prompted if you want to close launch when you select Close from the
  129.   system menu, or double-click on the control box.  This may help to prevent
  130.   accidental closes.  You will NOT be prompted if Launch! is closed by a Task
  131.   Manager, or by any other means, such as when you exit Windows.

  133. * Added a "prevent 'double-runs'" feature.  If you've accidentally double-
  134.   clicked on one of Launch!'s buttons, you'll appreciate this feature! :-)
  135.   When you activate it, Launch! will prevent the same button from launching
  136.   more than once every two seconds.  This should prevent any accidental
  137.   'double-runs'.  (Or 'triple-runs' for that matter.)

  140. New in version 1.7:
  141. -------------------

  143. * Added support for CTL3D.DLL.  Now message boxes and common dialogs have
  144.   a 3-D appearance.  (CTL3D.DLL is not required.  If Launch! cannot find it,
  145.   message boxes and common dialogs will have a normal 2-D appearance.)

  147. * Added 20, 28, and 40 pixels to the list of available button sizes.

  149. * "NO ICON" is now displayed on a button that Launch! could not find an
  150.   icon for.  In previous versions Launch! would not let you configure a
  151.   button if the icon was invalid.

  153. * Added the ability to configure any button to run an "internal function."
  154.   Internal functions include Restart Windows, Exit Windows, Reboot System,
  155.   Edit Launch! Configuration, Save Current Configuration, and Revert To

  165. * You can now change the format of the time that is displayed in the status
  166.   bar by clicking on the status bar.

  168. * Reduced the system resources used by Launch!

  170. * Added a "disable sounds" option on the General Configuration screen.
  171.   Checking this box will disable the sounds that are normally played when a
  172.   message box comes up.

  175.   "Select Icon..." button when editing the configuration of a button.

  182.   font" display driver.  All known problems are now fixed.

  274.   the number of columns and rows of buttons.  The number of buttons is only

  280. * Launch! can either show all rows of buttons at once, or show a specified
  281.   number of rows at a time; the other rows can be viewed by using a scroll
